This dark comedy of love, lust and a man-eating plant has entertained audiences
and served as a cautionary tale for would-be botanists everywhere. Shy Seymour
works at Mushnik’s Skid Row Florists and secretly loves his fellow shop
assistant, Audrey, whom he would like to save from the clutches of the evil
dentist Orin. When an exotic plant arrives at the shop, Seymour cares for
it and gains fame as the strange plant—named Audrey II—attracts
the attention of horticulturists everywhere. Unfortunately, Audrey II exacts
a hefty price for assisting Seymour in his romantic endeavors. The quirky
tunes in this macabre tale include “Little Shop of Horrors,” “Somewhere
That’s Green” and “Suddenly Seymour.”
